If you're a woman of a certain age with a sense of humor and a sense of outrage, we've been waiting for you.

First, the fine print

No grandchildren required

"Granny" is a state of mind. You don't need grandchildren, and you don't even need children. You need to care about the world they're inheriting, and be willing to put on a flowered hat and sing about it where people can hear you.

Most gaggles set 50 as the floor, and most limit membership to women. There's real power in subverting the stereotype of the quiet, harmless grandmother, and that's a big part of why we're effective. Every gaggle sets its own rules, so ask the one near you.

There are no dues, no bylaws, and no central committee to approve you. Each gaggle is autonomous. If they'll have you and you'll have them, you're a Raging Granny.

Three ways in

Here's how

What you're signing up for

Rehearsals, rallies, and rage

Most gaggles meet regularly to rehearse and plan actions. Decisions happen by consensus, songs get written around kitchen tables, and then everyone shows up somewhere public and sings truth to power in three-part near-harmony. Nobody will audition you. Enthusiasm counts for more than pitch.

Want a taste first? Browse the Song Library and imagine yourself singing one on a street corner. If that thought makes you grin, you already know.
